Melting in the heat

With a curious look on his face, Yuan extended his arm to Tobi.

"This is going to hurt a little," Tobi warned, "But you should be okay, considering the whole regeneration thing you got going on." He grabbed hold of Yuan's arm and activated the transmutation circle on his palm. If the transmutation succeeded, Yuan's blood would stop flowing and steadily grow colder until it froze. Being a homunculus, it shouldn't have any long term effect on Yuan, but it would kill a normal person.

"That feels... weird." Yuan said, looking down at his arm. After a moment red sparks flashed across his skin, his arm no worse for wear.

Tobi nodded. "I wouldn't know what it actually feels like, I've never done it to myself. I've always wondered, though."

"You pretty much made my arm feel totally dead, like a plank of wood. It was also pretty cold." Yuan shrugged.

"Really? Sounds cool," Tobi said with a grin. "It would be enough to kill a normal person. That's on of the slowest ways to do it, though. The farther away from their heart, the slower they die. That's why I normally aim for the chest area. I'm developing a technique to do it from long distance and I'm really close to figuring out how." He smiled cockily.

"Well don't think you're gonna use me as a lab rat." Yuan laughed.

Tobi looked upset. "But I can't practice on anyone else without ultimately killing them! C'mon, Yuan!"

"Fine, but you owe me." Yuan frowned.

Tobi grinned. "Thanks!" He said. "Stay here." He walked quickly out about 100 feet away from Yuan. "Ready?" He called.

"As I'll ever be." Yuan called back, standing there boredly.

Bending down, Tobi scribbled a circle in the sand and put his hands on it. "Okay!" He said gleefully, activating the circle. Immediately, the air became even drier as he sucked some of the liquid down to create a medium with which he could connect with Yuan, much like in the days that his great grandfather had been in the military, a young Xinese girl had used throwing knives as hers. The water was turned to a thin line of ice, connecting with Yuan's thigh. Using this, Tobi did the blood-freezing procedure again.

"Eh, that still feels really weird." Yuan shuddered at the feeling of his leg going totally dead.

"It's working?" Tobi sounded excited.

"Like a charm!" Yuan yelled in answer.

Tobi laughed happily. "Good to know," He said, walking back towards Yuan. "Wow, that's great! Now I've got a way to pass my next assessment!"

"Assesment?" he asked as his leg healed. "And how will you demonstarte?"

Tobi frowned. "Didn't think of that," He said with a sigh. "I'll find someone. Maybe they'll let me use a prisoner who's on Death Row or something!" He sounded excited.

"Hopefully. At least you know it works." Yuan nodded.
