On Top of a Mountain (Xan/Katie)

Katie Lynn Ash, holding ashes of a burnt letter in her hand, arrived at the specific mountain that the letter told her to go.
She thought for a moment, while burning the letter, that it was quite ironic that her last name fit of what she was doing.

"Hello...?" She called, looking around. She wondered why she was sent to this place.
It was freezing!
"Hello?!" She called out more loudly.
"Is anyone here?!" She sighed heavily, seeing her breath in the air. 'It was probably just some prank or something...agh,'
She rubbed her arms before, and turned around to head back. 'I shouldnt've came out here...'

Suddenly, a man in a white cloak placed his hand on Katie's shoulder and told her not to scream, and that he was sent by the man who had sent her the letter.

Do you have the ashes with you, honored guest?

Katie jumped, but didn't scream as she turned around surprised.

"Uh...y-yeah, I do." Katie pulled out the ashes and showed it to the man.
"Why was this sent to me anyway?"

The man collected the ashes and put them into his cloak. Without answering the question, he turned around and inserted his necklace into the side of the mountain. Instantly, a door opened, revealing a long flight of stairs that went deeper into the mountain.

His Lordship awaits with answers to all of your questions, honored guest.

The stairs led directly to the heart of the Netherworld Tower...

Katie stared at the location in amazment and confusion. Where was she now?
Why was she there?
Who is "his Lordship"?
Why is she needed?
All the questions circled her mind.
She wished she knew...but, the man did say all of her questions would be answered soon, so all she had to do was follow and wait.

The servant led Katie deep into the Netherworld Tower, past the various work rooms, smithies, living quarters, and other areas until they reached the throne room. There, in a throne of obsidian, sat the Illuminati Leader, Xan.

Xan looked at Katie, expecting a look of surprise, as it was a very well kept secret that he led an army of his own, able to match a small country in full scale warfare.

Smiling, Xan welcomed Katie to the Netherworld Tower.

Well, I see you got my message. Welcome to the Netherworld Tower, Katie.

Katie stared around the location. She was surprised about this.

"The Netherworld Tower? Um...if I may ask, why am I here...?" She asked, unsure.

Xan pondered the correct answer to Katie's question, then opted for a truthful direct approach. Well Katie, you are here because I need your help.

That was a simple truth, Xan needed Katie's help if he wished to make one of his dreams a reality.

He waited for Katie's next question. Doubtless, she had plenty of them.

"Why do you need my help? Where and what is this place? And...well, who are you?" Katie tried to get as many questions as she could out of her system before more kept pouring in.

Xan decided to answer Katie's questions in order, as truthfully as possible.

Well, I have a vacant position in my organization you see, and you are one of the very few who can occupy that position. This place is the Netherworld Tower, the headquarters of my organization, and as for who I am...Surely you recognize Major General Xan?

Katie stopped for a moment.
An organization? She was one of the very few?

"Major General Xan...?" She repeated quietly to herself. She tried to think back on all of the military people she's heard of.
It suddenly clicked.
She had heard of him, but she didn't know much about him.
She was curious if he knew anything about her.

"Okay...last question...why am I one of the very few to be apart of this?"

Xan smiled a little before proceeding. Well you see Katie, I have two conditions that need to be met for the position that I offer. Knowledge of the language of Xing, and power. I am quite sure that you possess both, as I looked into your file. Very nice job becoming a State Alchemist so early, by the way. As I recall, the only person who managed to become a State Alchemist earlier than you was Alexander Elric, and he's in my organization as well.

Xan wondered what affect his information would have on the young alchemist before him.

Katie thought for another moment.
She did know Xingese...her father did teach her.

"Thank you, Major General. I actually tried to become one at an earlier age...but I failed my first time in the exams. I also thank you for believing that I have so much power. I'm sure, if I join, I won't dissapoint. And as for Xingese...I do know it pretty well."

Xan was pleased by this outcome. It appeared as though Katie wished to join him.

Well then, will you accept my invitation to join the Illuminati? Your position as Lady of Xing would grant you full control over the Illuminati members in Xing.

Katie thought, considering the offer. She actually did wish to join, although she wasn't completely sure. Was she sure that she could handle the power of control?
What would her family think if she was apart of this?

Well...no one had to know she was apart of this, right?

She turned fully to Xan. If she didn't join, something bad would probably happen to her, anyway.

"I accept your offer. I'd be glad to join."

Xan snapped his fingers when Katie said that she would join.

A servant appeared from one of the shadows in the room and handed Katie a silver necklace. Her Illuminati Necklace, made from the finest silver and marked with the word Xing.

Welcome to the Illuminati, Katie, Lady of Xing. If there is anything that you require, please don't hesitate to ask. That necklace functions as a communicator that allows one to speak to me from almost anywhere.

Katie smirked, taking the necklace she was given.
She knew she had a lot of power now resting on her shoulders, and she thought she was ready for it, now.

If the Major General said that she has the power, than he was right. She was now the Lady of Xing, member of the Illuminati.
